As you may already know, there are several dual keys on the keyboard that are suitable for both Windows and Mac. That is, there are characters on the keyboard that are easily accessible as secondary keys. By simply pressing two or more keys at once, you can easily insert such characters into your work. However, other characters are not printed as a second key on the keyboard. This makes it harder to hit. One of these symbols is the reverse question mark (¡).

Inserting a reversed question in Word/Excel
In the following sections, I will show you all the easy ways to type or paste this symbol (¡) anywhere on your Windows or Mac PC (for example, in Word or Excel or PowerPoint).
In a few minutes, I’ll explain some methods you can use to get (¡) and any other character if needed.
To learn how to enter the reverse question mark on the keyboard, press the Alt key and enter 0161 alt code on the numeric keypad. You can also press Option + 1 on a Mac.
However, the methods are explained in detail below without further ado.
1. Inverted question labels (Windows and Mac).
The question about the reverse dot for Mac is an option + 1. The key combination for Windows is Alt+0161.
There are several keyboard shortcuts in Windows, some of which only work in Microsoft Word. The inverted question mark is one of them. This key combination is Alt+0161 (discussed in the next chapter).

Legend Folded question mark for Microsoft Word – 00A1, Alt X. This only works in Microsoft Word.
To use it on Windows (for Word), follow these instructions:
- Place the cursor at the desired location.
- Select 00A1 with the keyboard, then press Alt + X.
This converts the numbers into an inverted question mark at the point where you placed the cursor.
The following explains how to use the reverse question mark hotkey on the Mac:
- First, place the cursor where you want to insert the character.
- Now press Option + 1 on the Mac keyboard.
This key combination should insert the icon for you on your Mac PC.

2. Inverted question mark Alternative code (for Windows)

Each symbol in Word has a unique code that you can use to insert the symbol into your document. This code is also called alt-code.
Here are the steps to enter this character on the keyboard (using the Alt code above):
- Press the dial pad lock button to activate the dial pad. Use Fn + NumLk to enable Num Lock on laptops without a numeric keypad.
- Hold down the Alt key and enter 0161 using the numeric keypad.
- After entering the Alt code (e.g. 0161), release the [Alt] key.
Once you release the Alt key, the inverted question mark symbol (¡) should appear in your document.
3. Copy and paste reverse question
Use the button below to copy and paste the reverse question for your document.
My favorite way to paste characters is copy and paste.
With this method, all you have to do is search Google for the character you want to type, and then copy it from one of the search results. Once you have pasted a symbol into a document, you can copy and paste it again whenever you need it.

There is another way to copy this character and any other character in Windows. This was due to the use of the Windows sign statement.
Follow these steps to copy and paste any character using a character card.
- Find the Character Map application by pressing the Start key.
- The Character Map application appears in the search results. Click on it to start it.

- When the Character Table window is open, click the Preview check box to expand the window and get more options.

- Under Advanced View, type a slanted question mark in the search box.
- The symbol you are looking for (i.e. the inverted question mark) now appears in the symbol map. Double-click it to select it. You will see the icon appear in the Symbols to copy text box. Allows you to select and copy multiple characters at once.

- After selecting the character you want to copy, click the Copy button.
- Go to the place where you need the symbol, whether in MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint, and press Ctrl + V to paste it.

With these few clicks, the Symbol dialog box appears.
- Find the character you want to insert.
To easily find the inverted question mark in the Symbols window, look at the bottom of the dialog box and type 00A1 in the Symbol Code: field. The character you want to insert is selected after entering the code.
- Click on the Insert button.
